Quadrathlon World Cup and German Middle-Distance Championships

The German Quadrathlon Championships and a World Cup race took place at the Koberbach Dam in ideal weather conditions. The excellent weather, the friendly atmosphere and the flawless organisation ensured a thoroughly successful day of competition.

Special thanks go to the numerous marshals and helpers, whose motivation and support contributed significantly to the success of the event. Along the entire cycling route, many children also created a fantastic atmosphere and cheered on the athletes tirelessly.

The spectators were treated to some thrilling action. In the women’s race, Anna-Lena emerged from the water as the overall leader, laying the foundation for her strong performance. Susanne moved onto the kayak course with the second-fastest cycling time and confidently defended her second place. Right behind her was Gabi Menke, who impressed with the fastest kayak time and held on to her third place all the way to the finish line.

In the men’s race, Michael Faustmann set the standard in the endurance disciplines. With the fastest cycling time, he was the first to reach the kayak course. There, too, he left the competition behind, clocked the best kayak time and did not relinquish the lead until he crossed the finish line.

Things remained exciting further down the field: Christian Dürr took to the running course in second place and showed his strength there. With the fastest running time of the day, he was able to significantly reduce the gap and make up around 1 minute 30 seconds on the leaders. Lars Koch secured third place with a very solid and consistent performance.

There were also strong performances in the relay competition. Victory went to the WVC Kassel Youngster Team, who impressed with a cohesive team effort.

A little anecdote on the sidelines of the race brought a smile to everyone’s face: whilst many participants’ race numbers showed clear signs of wear and tear or were even tattered after the four disciplines, Lars presented his race number in almost immaculate condition – almost as if it had been ironed beforehand.

The commitment of the athletes at the back of the field was also remarkable. Every position was fought for right to the end, and even in the final metres, thrilling sprints to the line decided individual titles and placings.

The successful day of competition was rounded off by excellent catering and a friendly atmosphere that delighted participants, helpers and spectators alike. The German Championships and the World Cup at the Koberbach Dam will remain a fond memory for many involved for a long time to come.
