Under the scorching French sun, the quadrathlon athletes set off on the course alongside the triathletes in the early hours of the morning. Due to the heat, the distances were adjusted to 750 metres for the swim, 4 km for the cycle and 5 km for the run. The cycling route remained at the advertised length. During the swim, a trio comprising Maxime Faivre, Laurent Martinou and Morgan L’Helguen pulled away. Ferenc Csima fought his way back through a strong cycling performance, overtaking his rivals, so that he started the paddling leg alongside Morgan L’Helguen. On the water, both competitors stayed neck and neck and extended their lead. In the run, however, Morgan L Helguen prevailed and won ahead of Ferenc Csima. Laurent Martinou came close to the two leaders thanks to a strong running performance but narrowly finished third.
